New Zealand tour Wallfisch Band May 2010

13th of May 2010

Raquel, Jaap, Albert-Jan and Libby all arrived safely and soundly in Auckland- the long flights over!
The light and sights that greeted us were bright and friendly, promising a tour full of fun, and full-hearted music making.
For me, the Australian, it is heavenly to come to the Southern Hemisphere- the friendliness of the New Zealanders immediately apparent- openness and helpfulness everywhere!

The first bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was polished off in style by the 4 of us by way of greeting in the evening, before the general collapse to bed in the heap of the exhaustion from the flights.
Today we begin!

More later.

VENETIAN CARNIVAL

May 20-24 2010 at the Chamber Music festival in New Zealand .

Elizabeth Wallfisch director
Raquel Massadas viola
Jaap ter Linden cello
Albert-Jan Roelofs harpsichord

Let this vibrant music transport you back through the streets, piazzas, canals and cathedrals, to the magic and mystery of early 18th century Venice. Carnivals and pageantry, enjoyed and supported by wealthy aristocratic patrons provided plentiful opportunities for musicians and composers. Glorious music commissioned by the church adds to the colourful musical tapestry of the times, and brings history alive in our concert halls.

The work of The Wallfisch Band reflects Chamber Music New Zealand’s commitment to developing the skills and experiences of young musicians. Led by world-class violinist, Elizabeth Wallfisch, a core group of internationally recognised specialists work with and mentor some of New Zealand’s most motivated young musicians currently launching promising careers as early music performers.
