ABOUT US

Our Vision

"We see this orchestra as a training ground for the future.

We encourage artistic and technical growth in our young players, with a burning curiosity to learn, and develop.

We create and establish a standard of playing and musicianship at the highest level.

We raise their expectations of themselves and give them skills to take into their futures.

THUS we ensure music is in good hands for the next generations."

THE WALLFISCH BAND

The WALLFISCH BAND is a professional orchestra with a difference, specializing in historically informed performances of music from the 17th and 18th centuries, on the instruments of the same periods.

Once an aspiring musician has mastered his instrument to a high level of att ainment, then the best course he can take then to further his development as an artist is to go ‘on the road’ in the presence of the Masters of Music: become an 'apprentice'.

The WALLFISCH BAND is just such a group of Masters of Music thus filling a gap in the transition between artistic life as a student and their becoming a 'Master'.

We have our core professional players, (our Masters of Music) who number among the greatest baroque musicians in the world today, taking the principal roles in the orchestra.

Each of us is a Professor of Music, our credentials in our fields of speciality unquestioned.

We invite the cream of the graduates, and soon to be graduates from the Baroque Music Departments, and teachers around Europe to join us for our projects.

These players are placed within the orchestra in order for them to learn intently, closely from our Professors, thus playing at the highest level of which they are capable.

As the young people develop, and leave to pursue their own aims, the next, and the next ‘generations’ of young players join us.

There will be those that are the finest, who then in their turn teach the less experienced of us, within the structure of the Orchestra.
